Today, Muna Easa Al Gurg, Vice-Chairperson and Director of Retail at the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, joined the Giving Pledge, a promise by philanthropists to give the majority of their wealth to charitable causes in their lifetime or wills.

Too many grow up believing there are no alternatives to the status quo, limited to roles and expectations imposed upon them… Every woman deserves dignity, independence, and the autonomy to shape her own path. Every woman deserves to recognise her potential.

Muna Al Gurg

Al Gurg’s decision reflects her deep-rooted dedication to philanthropy and adds to the growing global movement.

Muna Al Gurg is a prominent businesswoman and philanthropist from Dubai. Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Al Gurg has served on the boards of several organizations, including HSBC Bank Middle East Limited and the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development. She is deeply passionate about empowering girls and women through addressing challenges that hinder their success and wellbeing and through supporting their economic empowerment and access to healthcare.

In 2024, she founded the Meem Foundation to address challenges faced by women and girls in the Middle East and North Africa. Meem Foundation is committed to closing the gender gap in the MENA region. To that end, since its launch, the Foundation has supported nine organizations globally and 1,396 women through scholarships, AI/machine learning, and access to healthcare.

In 2015, Al Gurg established the Muna Al Gurg Scholarship at London Business School, supporting female students in the MBA and Executive MBA programs. Additionally, she is a founding board member of Endeavor UAE, a non-profit organization promoting high-impact entrepreneurship in emerging markets.

Al Gurg joins the Pledge with both enthusiasm and optimism for the future of her philanthropy. In her Pledge letter, Muna Al Gurg stated: “Too many grow up believing there are no alternatives to the status quo, limited to roles and expectations imposed upon them… Every woman deserves dignity, independence, and the autonomy to shape her own path. Every woman deserves to recognise her potential.”

Founded in 2010 by Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and Melinda French Gates, the Giving Pledge is a promise by some of the world’s wealthiest philanthropists to give the majority of their wealth to charitable causes in their lifetimes or in their wills. Today, more than 240 signatories from 30 countries have signed the Pledge and comprise a vibrant global community that actively connects to each other, learns together, and supports progress around the world.
